Quick answer
Test payments are used to simulate transactions without real money, while live payments process real customer payments.
Test payments (sandbox)
All QashPay clients have access to a test account (sandbox environment).
Test payments allow you to:
- Simulate transactions
- Test your checkout flow
- Validate your integration
No real funds are processed during testing.
Live payments
Live payments are real transactions where:
- Customers are charged
- Funds are processed and settled
- Payouts are generated
Key differences
| Test payments | Live payments |
|---|---|
| No real money | Real customer funds |
| Used for testing | Used for actual transactions |
| Safe to experiment | Must be fully configured |
When to switch to live
Only switch to live payments after:
- Integration is complete
- Checkout is working correctly
- Testing has been successful
Common issues
- Payments not going through → may still be in test mode
- No payouts → live mode not activated
- Unexpected results → incorrect environment
